Some Things
Some molecules rattle, a target has been found
We sometimes forget what brutal weapons words can be. When we mean to be mean, we may not really comprehend the damage we’ve done, and when we jabber thoughtlessly, well. It’s amazing how sometimes the most casually uttered, least thought-out, comments are the most cutting.
Our mouths go and disturb air particles that do the same to their neighbors and so on until the whole thing reaches the cilia in our victim’s ears, and then on to their brains and then, oh well.
It’s a good reason to try to speak kindly, not that that’s always so easy to do.
(The harmonica on this is a toy harmonica that belonged to one of my daughters. Cute, teeny-weeny little harmonica.)
Some things are better unspoken Some things are best left unsaid Too often a heart winds up broken My friend
Vowels fly straight through the air Collide with the consonants’ sound Some molecules rattle A target has been found
Some things are better unspoken Some things are best left unsaid Too often a heart winds up broken My friend
To learn if your mouth is the right size for you Is so simple to measure, remove either shoe If you’ve paid attention You’ll know just what to do The odds are the flavor’s familiar to boot
A fiber at peace with the world Responds to a change in the air That carries an arrow For planting who knows where
Some things are better unspoken Some things are best left unsaid Too often a heart winds up broken, My friend
Some things are better unspoken Some things are best left unsaid Too often a heart winds up broken, My friend

I love this song.
